I have let everybody down, I said I would update and post more articles more often, and what happens? Almost another month since my last post - disgusting! I am ashamed of myself. This isn’t really an article, rather a gripe unto myself.
But in my defense, I am a IS major and writing isn't really my foray. It’s actually very difficult to think new and innovative articles and when I eventually do come up with an article I deem good enough, I seem to take forever to type the final result. I really admire those who do this for a living.
Subsequently, as a result of my - writers block is what I think they call it, I find it very tempting to steal a few ideas from other articles I have read. After arguing long and hard with myself about the ethical and morale values involved here, I have decided that writers write articles with the aim of provoking thought in their readers minds and I feel it would be an injustice to their talent if I do not act on this and add fair comment on their articles, you know say what I think about the idea raised.
So although I try to think up my own ideas, I sometimes give into laziness or just a damn good article and will rather render a commentary.
Yes I know this has been a very boring post, but it’s my blog and can do with it as I wish. I’m just letting you know that if you read an article that sounds familiar to you, that I’m not plagiarizing, I’m just adding comment.

It Just Upped & left!???

For the last month or so I have been writing a review of my 1st Bundesliga (the German First Football Division) season with my beloved BV Borrusia Dortmund in the latest edition of the now legendary Football Manager (FM) series - Football Manager 2006 (FM2006).
The review was to accompany an article here in my blog, documenting my growing addiction to this great game (Dont worry I will still submit an article on this topic later on). When I finally finished my review after numerous edits and re-writes, I was going to upload it on to a FM2006 fansite (the Dugout) where all FM Addicts and fans would be able to enjoy it.
I had been a big fan of this site ever since I heard about it back in 2002 and had visited it on many occasions to get hints and tips on the game, but I had never submitted anything myself - this would have been my first time.
Anyway enough history, So I had finished the review and was going to upload it onto the site when to my SHOCK AND HORROR!! The site was gone! I couldnt believe it, it just upped and left, didnt even say good bye. Now what am I suppossed to do?
And this aint the first time this has happened either, I've had many of my favorite sites discontinued - the main reason I believe for these internet killings is that most of these sites are free sites and the creators justr cannot afford the server charges it costs to host these great sites. This is very serious -its like they're endangered animals, except they're endangered websites...
So when you see those annoying banners asking you to support the site by making a donation, don't turn your back on them and click the next link - you wouldnt kick a starving child in the road, so why would you do it to a website which keeps you in touch with your friends, helps you learn new things or allows you to enjoy your interests.
Do the right thing - make a donation.
Find out how to donate here, or download the demo of FM2007 here.

Student Syndrome
There is a theory going around, and im not backing this at all - it's only a theory. That students leave everything to the last minute.
I mean that is TOTALLY absurd! Why would people who have been in educational institutions for more than half their life still leave things to the last minute, when they know (from past experiance) how much stress (mental and physical) it causes. Silly really; who makes up such things?
In my case it may appear that I leave things to last minute, but actually Im preparing myself for rough and tough real world out there - yes, after tertiary education people get jobs and start contributing to society. (Note: Puking in road, does not count as contribution to society)
Well lets get real here, none of us (students) are really oblivious to the 'real world', we all know its out there and know that someday we will all have to leave our comfort zone and go and join it. And in this real world, how often are you are actually given ong periods of time to go and study or research topics/tasks - the answer; very rarely. People are briefed on what they must do and how to do it once, they are then expected to go and do the job.
So by me not studying many days before a test or examination, I am not showing laziness I am showing initiative, I mean if I can't pass a test with only one nights worth of work than a big help I'm gonna be in the workplace.
So there, theory dismissed. I am actually revolutionising the way firms should select new employees - I personally like the way some firms do not request CV's or references and rather have the prospective canidate fill out a single application form.
