For the last month or so I have been writing a review of my 1st Bundesliga (the German First Football Division) season with my beloved BV Borrusia Dortmund in the latest edition of the now legendary Football Manager (FM) series - Football Manager 2006 (FM2006).
The review was to accompany an article here in my blog, documenting my growing addiction to this great game (Dont worry I will still submit an article on this topic later on). When I finally finished my review after numerous edits and re-writes, I was going to upload it on to a FM2006 fansite (the Dugout) where all FM Addicts and fans would be able to enjoy it.
I had been a big fan of this site ever since I heard about it back in 2002 and had visited it on many occasions to get hints and tips on the game, but I had never submitted anything myself - this would have been my first time.
Anyway enough history, So I had finished the review and was going to upload it onto the site when to my SHOCK AND HORROR!! The site was gone! I couldnt believe it, it just upped and left, didnt even say good bye. Now what am I suppossed to do?
And this aint the first time this has happened either, I've had many of my favorite sites discontinued - the main reason I believe for these internet killings is that most of these sites are free sites and the creators justr cannot afford the server charges it costs to host these great sites. This is very serious -its like they're endangered animals, except they're endangered websites...
So when you see those annoying banners asking you to support the site by making a donation, don't turn your back on them and click the next link - you wouldnt kick a starving child in the road, so why would you do it to a website which keeps you in touch with your friends, helps you learn new things or allows you to enjoy your interests.
Do the right thing - make a donation.
Find out how to donate here, or download the demo of FM2007 here.
