We all know the world is a bad place and that terrible things happen in the world all around us everyday.
But is it really necessary for people to be so paranoid? I mean, I'm a big a fan of being cautious and all - like "look left and right before you cross the road" or "don't get into an empty train carriage". But I think people are just taking it a bit too far.
The other day I was walking home from the train station. It was an ordinary day, the sun was shining and the skies were clear. A few houses down from mine I noticed a few domestics walking in the street - I made nothing of this as it was still early in the morning and most of the domestics usually start work at about this time if the day.
As I was walking up my driveway I saw my nextdoor neighbours domestic chatting to another domestic through here the fence of the house and as I approached my front door I heard shouting and stopped to look at what the hassle was. The domestic looked straight at me but did nothing and then redirected her attention back at the women on the other side of the fence.
Approximately half an hour later, my front door bell is being rung off its hinges! A gentleman in a leather jacket and collar shirt is at my door asking if I'm alright. "I'm fine " I replied and he then explained that their were reports of of a guy jumping of back walls in our neighbourhood and that apparently he might be in our backyard, the gentleman then asked if he could come in.
Now this is where you have to be cautious, if a stranger asks to come into your house you need to ask a few questions. I moved back from the door (the latch was still on) and asked the man who he was? He said that he was with the police. My first thought was; "why wasn't he in uniform?" but as I glanced behind him I could see two other uniformed police officers and a police car in our driveway. I then proceeded to let him in and he rushed off through our house to check the backyard with my baseball bat which I had answered the front door with.
After bashing around in the bushes and looking over our neighbours walls he said thank you and told me that everything seemed to be ok. The police then left and went to the next house.
Much later in the afternoon, my mother came home and said that she had spoken to our neighbour in the garden and told me about the neighbours account of the police visit earlier in the day. Apparently the neighbouring domestic had called the police as she believed that a cat burglaring duo had attempted to break into our neighbours house. She said that a women rings the doorbell to distract the house occupants to the front of the house while her male accomplice scales the back wall and enters through the back of the house.
The domestic has apparently fell victim to this ort of thing before and hence shouted at the women through the fence when she saw a man walking through the nextdoor front yard (me returning home) and appear to climb over the wall.
Can you believe that I was accused of breaking into my own house in broad daylight!
I guess if we were broken into then she would have been a hero, but yesterday she was just a dumbass.

The results were quite intersting to say the least. The ad was viewed 259,723 times and clicked on 409 times. Now tell me this, who would voluntarily want to infect their PC with a virus? I know I definately would not be one.
The article stated that no PC's were harmed/infected during the experiment as the website was benign and contained no harmful script or code. The purpose of the experiment was to test the barriers to acceptance of Google's adwords campaign as well as the safety of the .info domain's who are supposedly notorious for malware (harmful code and script -viruses).

How would you like it...
How would you like it the TV network just decided to cancel your favorite TV show?
Well it really sucks! I absolutely broken when "The Most Amazing Show" (Corne and Twakkie) was cancelled, it truely was the most amazing show.
I just hope nobody goes and cancels Heroes, else then things are going to get messy!

The world lives on to fight for another day
I don't know if you all have heard, but the world has just (by "just" I mean the recent few weeks as I'm never that uptodate with world news) been saved from a possibly catastrophic event.
A possible merger between software mega-giant Microsoft and internet pioneer Yahoo has fallen through. Shoo! that was close hey. Imagine what they could have done if that had materialised.
Okay yes, it could have horribly backfired in their faces and they could have crash 'n burned leaving Google to pick up the spoils of war (bet that is what they wanted). But lets give them the benefit of the doubt and say that they would have made things work for each other. Microsoft would have been able to make a killing in advertisement revenue not to mention lock-down countless unsuspecting yahoo users into their intricate web of licence only software applications.
And should I even mention that Bill Gates (Microsoft) and Terry S Semel (Yahoo) are power hungry moguls - we definately don't want them to have to much power (presence) on the web.
But this whole outright internet war must make the guys at Google feel super-duper great as everybody is desperately trying to catch up with them, long live fast and free internet!

My Hero/Heroine
Recently I have had this urge to find how things work and why. So when I was updating my blog I thought to myself why did I start blogging?
So as I set about to solve this mystery I stumbled across (yes, its one of my many weaknesses - I get very distracted very easily) one of my all-time favorite webcomics - Piled Higher and Deeper (PHD) and saw Cecilia's Blog (Cecilia is a character in the comic) and presto! mystery solved. (See being distracted easily isn't always a bad thing)
Yes, when I first read Cecilia's dailly (almost, excluding weekends) rantings I was inspired, this was what I wanted to do - it would be my calling. Everything was so random yet very relevant at the same time.
If you're wondering about the title to this post, well I was looking at the blog and realised that all the posts were posted by Cecilia. This makes sense as it is her blog after all, but then again she is only a character in comic so how can she constantly update her blog? Is she a real person whom the strip character is based on or is it the actual author of the comic (who is male) just writing as Cecilia in disguise (serious identity crisis). So that is the story behind the title if you all were wondering.
Check out the blog that started it all, here.

FREE COMIC BOOK DAY 2007
This past Saturday was one of the proudest days in my life, to see so many people who shared my interest in comic books and other literary pop cultures all in one place nearly brought tears to my eyes.
Saturday, for the intellectually numb, was the 6th annual Free Comic Book Day (FCBD) an international festival aimed to further expose the world to the interesting and exciting world of comics. As the name suggests, on FCBD loads of free comics are given away across the world and this year there were an unprecedented 40 different titles available.
Given the huge publicity that all the participating comic stores receive on FCBD, they not only give away free comics but also hold massive promotions/sales including graphic novels, action figures and many other pop culture items.
Unfortunately, given my heighten emotional state on the day I spent way too much money and might possible not be able to afford my monthly orders this month - actually on second thought, I'll rather give up food this month (food isn't that important).

The Time Has Come
I've been reading through the recent post I have made and I have to apologise as they definately have not been up to standard.
For some reason I've been writing alot of rubbish about web advertisements and making money, what have I become, some sort of internet capatilist? This must come to an end!
My sincerest apologies to all my faithful readers, I will make right by posting proper articles/posts in the coming days. Keep watching this space...
